Web Analytics Wednesday – World Series Edition

November 4th, 2008 by Derek Fine

I was in Philadelphia last Wednesday night, and not because I’m a Phillies fan – although the street screams and horns honking all night were hard to ignore (especially when trying to get to bed so I could catch my early AM flight home).  It was Web Analytics Wednesday (World Series Edition) and I spoke a little bit about our declaration of data independence.  More importantly, I got to meet with analytics practitioners and talk about the things they are doing and the problems they are facing.  As a product manager, there’s nothing better than to sit with a group of your product users – and users of other vendor tools too – and listen to THEM talk about the challenges they face every day.

If you are a practitioner, these meet-ups are great opportunities to meet others who are trying to solve the same problems that you are.  And usually you’ll get to talk about them while sharing some pretty good food and drink.  No matter whether these are sponsored by WebTrends or other vendors  –  or not sponsored at all  — if you’re looking for a way to meet up with others just like you then check one out the next time one’s in your town.

It is great (for us, not always for you guys!) that WebTrends is sending people to these events and taking an active role in them. I can think of only three or four good ways for a company like WebTrends to keep its decisionmakers (Derek, that’s you) aware of the user’s situation, and this is definitely one of them. WebTrends seems to be doing all of them these days.
