Windows 7 Tracking Available in WebTrends Analytics
At the 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) early this month, Microsoft announced the beta availability of the Windows 7 operating system. Consumers wanting to test-drive the beta were able to download it beginning January 9th.
We know how important it is for our customers to understand platform usage so they can ensure an optimal experience for visitors to their site. As of yesterday WebTrends On Demand customers have the ability to report on Windows 7 as a platform. This will show you the percentage of traffic coming to your site from visitors using this new platform.
Software customers can add this capability to their installations by modifying their browsers.ini file as follows:
1. Add an entry at the end of the [Platforms] section. For example:
Platform56=WIN_7
2. Add the following, also in the [Platforms] section:
[WIN_7]
log1=WINDOWS NT 6.1
text=Windows 7
More information on Windows 7 can be found on Microsoft’s web site.

Not yet, but we are working on it and I'll update this post as soon as it is in (as well as my post in the user forums).

We have updated the browsers and keywords updater for our software customers, located at:
http://www.webtrends.com/support/browser-and-keywords-updater.aspx .
If you use this installer, you will not have to perform the manual steps described above. In addition we have fixed our process to ensure that this installer will always be updated and posted simultaneous to any deploys into our On Demand environment.
As always, your feedback is always appreciated.

Just to confirm a couple of things:
1. Does the Browsers and Keywords Updater need to be run on the SDC box or the Analytics box?
2. Do any service restarts need to be made after the update is complete?

Hello Kyle,
You need to run it on the analytics server (if you have a distributed architecture, then on the main server)
You should stop all the services before running it, and restart them once finished.

My earlier post today pointed to the wrong KB article - I must have done it before I had my morning coffee -- my sincere apologies. I've asked the moderator to remove it.
The location of the installer is here, http://www.webtrends.com/support/browser-and-keywords-updater.aspx , and please heed Guillermo's advice.
